THAMES GATEWAY MODEL

A few of us went to CITYSCAPE/ECOBUILD at

Earl's court.

The most impresive thing was the model of the thames gateway showing how it is being developed right out to the estuary. It wasn't a very beautiful model but extremely precise and carefully crafted out of wood with plastic parts lit up. I doubt it was made by hand though, it was probabaly cut with lasers.

There were also some interesting stalls about green roofs and SUDS, sustainable urban drainage systems. I never thought there'd be a day when I thought drainge systems were interesting!

Wild flower meadow seed mix, I thought green roofs were only made from carpet forming plants but they can even more beautiful than the usual sedum cvs. and they self seed so are totally sustainable.
