This is Warsaw in the middle of winter, I've been spending a lot of time here this year visiting my dad, I'm looking forward to seeing it in the summer too. This picture is of the Krakowskie prszedmiescie one of the main streets in the Stary Miasto- old town. Its currently being reconstructed, there's no road and only pavement in some places - if it was in England the street would probably be closed off due to health & safety! Its amazing to think that this was all flattened in the war and is still being rebuilt. Its difficult to see in these pictures but all the buildings have been repainted in shades of pink yellows, ochres and now the street squares and pavements are being relaid in similar sympathetic colours with granite setts and real stone pavers. This is all part of the major works continuing in Warsaw to restore its heritage to that of pre-war times.
